FAQ

Last updated September 8, 2026

Quick answers about sheets, sharing, budgets, receipt scanning, privacy, and My Expenses Pro.

Do I need an account?

No. My Expenses works without a separate account. If you use iCloud, Apple handles syncing and sharing through your Apple Account.

Can I share a sheet?

Yes. Open a sheet, add its members, then use the sharing button. Everyone sees the same expenses, budgets, and balances through iCloud.

Can I use it alone?

Yes. Personal sheets work for everyday spending, trips, events, or a dedicated budget. You can keep several sheets for different parts of your life.

How do budgets work?

Set a budget for the whole sheet or limits for individual categories. The budget view shows what you have spent, what remains, and which categories are over budget.

How does receipt scanning work?

My Expenses scans receipts on your device. Review the detected expenses before adding them. Receipt images and extracted text are not sent to an AI service.

Can sheets use different currencies?

Yes. Each sheet has its own currency. Expenses inside that sheet use the same currency so totals and balances stay clear.

Are there Home Screen widgets?

Yes. Small and medium widgets can show sheet budgets and member balances without opening the app.

Can I use My Expenses for free?

Yes. My Expenses is free to start. My Expenses Pro unlocks the complete set of paid features. Current options and prices appear before purchase in the app.

Where is my data stored?

Your expense data is stored locally and in your private iCloud account when iCloud features are enabled. My Expenses has no advertising account or separate expense database.
